Middle & Back Office 職位大解構 (Part 1)
除了我們經常提到的 front office roles 例如 IBD, Sales and Trading, Private Banking 等等，Middle 和 Back Office 的職位也不容錯過。Middle 和 Back Office 的職位除了有穩定的 headcount 數目和相對有 work-life balance，大型投行的fresh grad月薪也能達到三萬到四萬港元，也是很多同學心儀的選擇。Ace Careers 今次會帶大家了解其中三個熱門 Middle Back Office departments: Risk Management, Compliance 和 Human Resources。
Risk Management
Risk Management 是典型的 middle office 職位，是銀行裡面難得高薪卻有 work-life balance 的職位。Risk Management 的 team 大致可以分 Market Risk, Credit Risk 和 System Risk三種。其中有些銀行還設置了 liquidity risk ，operational risk 和 model risk 等等的 team，是一個範疇很廣的部門。Risk management 的地位在 銀行界是非常重要的，因為 risk team 要準確地識別，衡量和控制風險以降低成本，有助於保證銀行的 long-term development。如果你想進入 risk department，學習基本的 quantitative skills 或者考 FRM 證書會有一定的幫助哦！
Compliance
在 2008 年金融海嘯過後，Compliance 的 headcount 和地位都直線上升。當年由於監管不嚴而造成了投資銀行雷曼兄弟的破產和席捲全球的金融海嘯，這讓銀行界意識到了 compliance 和 risk management 的重要性。用一句話來概括 compliance 就是一個確保公司的法規和條例能夠被有效遵守從而維持 business continuity的部門。金融界中的 compliance大致有 financial crime compliance, regulatory compliance, control room compliance 和 investment compliance 等等。舉例來說，銀行會對客戶進行KYC 和 AML 的 審查來確保沒有可疑的交易記錄，以免公司受到反洗黑錢的調查而業務停擺。
Human Resources
對於 Investment Bank 這種以提供 service 為主的業務來說，員工無疑是公司最大的資產，因此 HR 在 investment bank 中也有不錯的收入和 career path。投資銀行的 HR department 中的主要工作不僅僅是負責 recruitment，還包括員工的 salary package，benefits planning，員工的 reporting matrix 和 performance evaluation等等， 以及如何營造一個 diverse 和 inclusive 的工作環境，如何促進 firm mobility。如果同學們想進入 HR department，你需要有比較強的 communication skills 和 project management skills，流利的英文也會加分哦。
