Debt Capital Market (DCM) 必須要知道的重要知識點
Debt Capital Markets (DCM) 投資銀行中 Investment Banking Division 中 headcount 最多而且 deal flow 最穩定的部門，我們總結了想要 break into DCM 一定要知道的知識點和 technical skills。
IBD 近年最多 headcount 的部門 - DCM
DCM 即是 Debt Capital Markets，主要是通過發行債券為公司或者政府部門 raise funds。DCM 的結構及過程大致分為 Origination, Execution 和 Syndicate 。Origination方面，Analyst 和 Associate 的主要的工作準備 Pictchbook，Modelling, 向 syndicate 詢價等等，而VP以上的級別主要負責見客戶以拿到 madnate。Execution 過程中則是負責 due diligence，討論 covenants 和評級資料，以及 roadshow 等。Syndicate 是比較不為熟知的team，他們主要負責的則是一級市場定價以及和investor 討論投資意向 。
DCM 強勁 Deal Flows 的優勢來源
提到 IBD 大家可能第一時間想到股票的IPO (ECM) 或公司併購 (M&A)，例如大家都會知道最近的 China ADR IPO relisting i.e. 9888.HK (百度)，但很少人會知道有什麼大單的 debt offering。DCM會比ECM (Equity Capital Markets) 的Volume 較高但 Margin 則較低，但其實環球債券市場遠遠大於環球股票市場，Bloomberg 就指環球債務總規模在2020年底已達 USD$281 trillion，而整個股票市埸的市值在同年則只達約 USD$95 trillion 。
IBD 都需要知道的 League Table
投行會拼盡全力讓自己在 League Table 上有一席之地，與學生成績單無異，在 League Table 上的 ranking 及 track records 能讓 investment banker 在新客戶面前的 pitching 更具說服力 。 以下Bloomberg Terminal 的 League Table 就清晰展示最新的 Asia ex-Japan G3 Currency Bonds deals 中各大投行的排名。

上面我們講了有關DCM Industry 的知識，想進入DCM的你還要具備以下四種不可或缺的 technical knowledge.
1. Bond Pricing
你必須要知道基本的 bond analysis 包括 bond yield, price, yield to maturity (YTM), yield to worst (YTW) 等等。除此之外你也要了解不同類型的債券產品例如 callable bond， convertible bond 等等，他們的 structure 有什麼特點，定價跟普通的Bond有什麼區別，從發行公司和投資者的角度分別有什麼優點和缺點等等。這種知識不止適用於DCM，更你幫助你進入 fixed income sales and trading。
2. Duration
Duration 是跟 fixed income product 有關的 interview 中最常問到的 technical terms，例如 What is duration? Why should we look at duration? Tell me about the approximate duration for a 10 year zero coupon bond 等等。大家如果想了解多點關於 duration 的知識可以看我們之前出過的有關 Duration 的 instagram post！
3. 對債市和利率環境要有一定認識
DCM Banker 要時常留意債市和利率環境的變化，債券市場與 Macroeconomics 和利率等因素環境息息相關，在interview中你會被問到的問題包括 Federal Reserve 的 policy, Fed Funds Rate 或 美國的十年國債利率大概是多少，最近債市的走勢如何等等。了解這些知識有助於了解債券市場的價格發展和投資者的意向。
4. Credit Rating
我們之前有一篇 Instagram post 專門講過 3 大 Rating Agencies 和一些基本的債務評級知識，以及什麼是 Investment Grade Bond 和 Junk Bond, 有興趣的同學可以去看看。Credit Rating 與債券發行有密不可分的關係，它代表了這個債券和發行人的的 credit quality，也會影響 bond valuations，不得不提發行人想藉更換評級機構令主體級別上調的事件更是屢見不鮮。
